About

Wheaton is a vibrant community, and we are proud of where our students come from; our diverse student community represents 72 countries and 39 states. Wheaton has expanded its national and international reach by launching programs across the globe to attract the next generation of global leaders to Wheaton. During President Hanno’s tenure, Wheaton students have been offered new immersive study-abroad experiences.

Wheaton in Africa

Under President Hanno’s leadership, Wheaton students have had the opportunity to participate in two faculty-led programs in Africa. The Wheaton Innovation and Leadership Laboratory, a summer faculty-led program in Rwanda, is like a summer camp for would-be entrepreneurs. Rwandan students spend five intensive days diving into innovation and entrepreneurship lessons led by Wheaton students. The Innovation and Social Change in Emerging Economies faculty-led course in Ghana is an academic course linked with a service-learning immersion experience where Wheaton students worked with high school students and adults in the Western Region of Ghana to develop innovative solutions that address needs and challenges in their communities.

Recruiting Global Leaders

Wheaton College partners with Next Genius, a Mumbai-based educational initiative that seeks to promote the importance of critical thinking. As Next Genius’s original U.S. college partner, Wheaton awards a full-tuition scholarship to one of the top candidates in the nationwide competition, including thousands of students. In addition, led by Wheaton, the Global Leaders Program draws high school students from places such as China, India, Jordan, Kenya, Mexico, and Tunisia, and from right here in Norton, Mass., and from across the United States. Participants lived on campus and were mentored by Wheaton students and recent graduates selected for their campus leadership.

Continue President Hanno’s legacy by investing in innovative programs that attract global leaders and increase Wheaton’s presence in the world with a donation through the Wheaton Fund.
